Violinist Danielle Belen Nesmith, a California native, is a recent graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music and the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, where she completed her degrees as a student of Robert Lipsett.

As the 1st Place Senior Division Winner of the Sphinx Competition, Danielle is appearing as soloist with major orchestras in the 2008-09 season including the Pittsburgh Symphony, Boston Pops, Atlanta Symphony, Florida Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, and the San Francisco Symphony. She has recently enjoyed working with conductors such as Robert Spano, Keith Lockhart, and Carl St. Clair.

Danielle is currently Assistant Concertmaster of New West Symphony. She has also been Concertmaster and soloist for the American Youth Symphony and Colburn Chamber Orchestra in Los Angeles, and the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado.

In Los Angeles, she has been a guest solo artist with the Torrance, Downey and Capistrano Valley Symphonies as well as the Santa Cecilia Orchestra and Pasadena Pops. Music has also provided her with opportunities to journey across the globe. In 2006, Danielle was invited to play in the Pacific Symphony on their first European Tour, where she traveled with the orchestra to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Also a terrific chamber musician, she has toured Brazil and France as a member of the Armstrong Quartet.

A passionate teacher with a growing violin studio of her own, Danielle has recently been appointed a position at the Colburn School as Robert Lipsett’s teaching assistant.

Danielle plays on a 1709 Allessandro Gagliano violin from the Mandell Collection of Southern California.
